About Simon Doe

Weekday's Mid-Morning 10am - 1pm
(PLUS Saturday Breakfast 8am - 12pm)

From 10am each weekday, Simon starts with an hour of musical memories from across the decades with The Time Machine. Later, he keeps you fully up to date with what’s happening in the Yorkshire Dales, plus there’s his Name In The Tune.

Get to know Simon Doe a little better - We hooked him up to our 'Lie Detector' and managed to extract the following:

Name: Simon Doe

Who was your first kiss with? A girl in the next street called Jane, or it might have been Mandy [Boss: What - you can't REMEMBER?]

What's your favourite food? Egg mayonnaise sandwiches and I'm also getting into salmon dishes [Boss: Phew! - The SMELL!]

What's your most favourite place in the world? Probably Swanage in Dorset, a childhood home with strong family links

What were you like as a child? A lot shorter! [Boss: Nothing changed then? 😁]

What was your very first concert? Gilbert O'Sullivan

What's your go -to karaoke song? It's Not Unusual by Tom Jones. You're on and off again within two minutes - it saves embarrassment!

What's the most unusual job you've ever had? A Saturday job where I delivered cauliflowers to the Royal Kitchen at Windsor Castle [Boss: Oooo - get YOU!]

What was the first album you ever bought? A battered copy of 'The Best Of The Beach Boys' at a jumble sale

If you could interview anyone, dead or alive, who would it be and why? Nicholas Parsons. I did interview him, but I lost the tape. Yes, tape. I'd like that souvenir as he was such a gentleman and was very complimentary to me. That meant a lot to a young broadcaster from a legend such as him.
