Mark Dobson Chairman the current Chairman of Ingleton Football and Ingleton Cricket Team is hosting a fantastic fundraising event for three amazing charities, The British Heart Foundation, St John's Hospice and Blood Cancer UK all who have helped individuals from each club on their own journey. The event is planned for Friday 10th July and if field availability allows potentially run over into Saturday 11th July. Ingleton Football Club and the Cricket Club will be against each other for an evening of sporting entertainment and fun! They are looking to connect with local groups, organisations, and individuals who may benefit from spending time amongst nature on a real working farm in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. Their sessions can include: Animal handling and livestock care, gardening and growing activities, rural skills and nature-based activities, time outdoors in a calm, supportive environment, a friendly space to build confidence, social connection, and wellbeing. People of all ages and abilities are very welcome including (but not limited to) those who may benefit from support with: Mental health and wellbeing, Autism and additional needs, Dementia, Alzheimer's and memory support, social isolation and confidence building, care homes and care settings. For more than 30 years the Richmond & Dales Talking Newspaper has been providing twice monthly recordings of news from local newspapers for listeners in Richmond, Swaledale, Wensleydale and adjoining areas. The service is available completely free to anyone with a visual impairment. It is also available to others who have difficulty reading newspapers or would like to have an audio recorded version of the local news. The news can be sent to you on a CD, a datastick, or with a link to receive every edition via your smart speaker. We can help provide a CD player or a smart speaker and/or help set up the service. The Bentham Playing Fields Clubhouse is in of serious disrepair. Without urgent investment it's at risk of being lost. Their aim is to build a new, warm welcoming centre at the heart of their community offering a safe and inclusive space for children's activities, post match gatherings for families and sports teams, making full use of the exceptional playing fields along side it. Bentham Pet Rescue have a number of young adult feral cats that are in urgent need of rehoming. The cats are ideal for farm and stable owners and you must be prepared to keep them contained for at least a month in a safe and warm space so they learn were home is whilst support feeding them twice a day. The Yoredale Strummers are a long established ukulele band who meet for a couple of hours every Tuesday at 7pm at Wensley Village Hall. Members pay £10 a month to cover the coat of hall hire, tea and biscuits. They play for pleasure and practice songs from their extensive catalogue of 150 songs which includes an eclectic mix of folk and pop and plenty of 60's. You don't need to be able to read music as the chords are written in to the lyrics, members also suggest new songs to add to the catalogue. The strummers play two or three fundraising gigs a year raising money towards Yorkshire Air Ambulance and supporting local events and venues. Craven Wildlife Rescue have nearly 70 hedgehogs in their care and are running really low on both dry and wet food. Kitten biscuits, including supermarket's own brand are perfect along with any wet cat or dog food. Please help to fill the bellies of these prickly creatures by dropping off any donations at the rescue centre, based at Horton Old School, Horton in Ribblesdale.
Askrigg Rope Makers were formed in 2022 as Caroline the owner is so passionate about the craft after learning her skills at Outhwaites, a former company based in the Dales town of Hawes. Caroline is trying hard to preserve the tradition and was the only female in the Northeast to make rope in the traditional way on such a commercial scale and would love to get the message out to the Dales that the ropemaking tradition is still being kept alive through her passion and dedication.
