North Yorkshire Police have launched a formal investigation following a fatal incident on the River Wharfe. Emergency services, including land ambulances, the air ambulance, and fire and rescue teams, were scrambled to the riverbank near Burnsall at around 6:30 PM last night, Sunday, May 31, following reports that a young girl had gone missing in the deep water. Members of the public and medical teams dynamically pulled the thirteen-year-old from the water and administered trauma resuscitation, but she was tragically pronounced dead after being airlifted to the hospital.
