Duty logs published by North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service confirm that appliance crews were dispatched to the Canal Towpath in Skipton following reports of a member of the public in distress near the water's edge.
Fire crews deployed water rescue equipment to assist the individual to safety alongside attending ambulance teams.
The site was made safe and handed over to medical personnel a short time afterwards.
