The Richmond Angling Society has been given a "River Champion" award. Over the last year, their volunteers have spent every weekend testing the River Swale for phosphates and illegal discharges. Their data has already been used to force a local utility company to fix a leaking sewage pipe near Catterick, proving the value of "citizen science."
