The York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority confirmed funding approval to evaluate bus franchising models across rural dales and urban hubs.
The decision follows warnings from regional councillors over "empty buses" operating along subsidised rural routes and calls for better integrated timetables.
The comprehensive assessment will review route frequencies, fare structures, and reliability across connecting services in Richmondshire and Craven.
