North Yorkshire Police's Rural Task Force has launched an appeal after multiple sheep were viciously attacked near Cod Beck Reservoir. Witnesses reported seeing a red setter-type dog running out of control and mauling livestock, forcing a member of the public to intervene. Due to the catastrophic nature of their injuries, the sheep had to be humanely euthanised. Sergeant David Lund issued a stark reminder today that livestock worrying is a criminal offence, urging all walkers to keep dogs tightly on leads near grazing areas. Anyone with information on the dog or its owner is urged to call 101.
