A twenty-seven-year-old man from Middleham has been handed a prison sentence after running away from the UK to escape prosecution. Steven Keenan was originally due to face trial for a serious incident of affray dating back to November 2021, during which he subjected his partner to a terrifying ordeal at their shared home. Rather than face the courts, Keenan fled to Cyprus, sparking an extended international hunt. He was successfully detained upon returning to the country and has now been officially locked up by a crown court judge.
