The major renovation of Ingleborough Cave is now 90% complete. The centrepiece is a quarter-million-pound LED lighting system that replaces ageing halogen bulbs. This isn't just for show; the new "cold" lights emit a specific spectrum that prevents the growth of "lampenflora"—the invasive moss and algae that can damage ancient stalactites. Contractors are currently finishing the installation of reinforced fibreglass walkways, which will allow wheelchair access further into the cave system than ever before.
