Hundreds of observers made the climb to high vantage points—including Ribblehead Viaduct, Malham Cove, and Almscliffe Crag—to catch an uninterrupted view of the rare celestial spectacle as the moon blocked out the vast majority of the solar disc.
Beginning shortly after 6:10 PM and peaking at 7:09 PM, the eclipse turned the evening sun into a razor-thin crescent, casting a dramatic twilight glow across the surrounding Dales valleys.
Astronomy groups and National Park rangers praised observers for following eye safety guidance, noting that it was the deepest solar eclipse visible above North Yorkshire skies since 1999.
