There is a major breakthrough in the threat to close the Reeth Medical Centre. Following an intervention by local MP Rishi Sunak and health officials, a proposal has emerged for the Central Dales Practice (based in Hawes and Aysgarth) to operate Reeth as a branch surgery. This would prevent 1,600 patients from having to travel to Leyburn or Richmond. While a business plan is still being finalised, health chiefs are "encouraged" that services will be maintained beyond the end of May.
