The Friends of the Settle-Carlisle Line have finalised their public itinerary ahead of a significant mid-July transport milestone at Garsdale Station. The localised event marks exactly forty years since regular passenger train operations were successfully restored to the remote upland hub on July 14, 1986, reversing a bleak sixteen-year total closure. Heritage coordinators are hosting historical presentation displays detailing the late-1980s restoration campaigns alongside guided walks underneath the monumental Dandry Mire Viaduct, celebrating the line's continued role as a crucial transport artery for fells communities.
