Richmond and Reeth fire stations have issued a joint warning after two small "smoldering patches" were found on the moors above Grinton. With the spring growth of heather yet to turn green, the old "dead" growth is extremely flammable. A single disposable BBQ can start a fire that travels faster than a person can run. Firefighters are asking the public to report any smoke sightings on the fells immediately via 999.
