Both appliances from Ripon Fire Station were scrambled at 10:18 PM on Saturday following emergency calls reporting an agricultural baler well alight in a field near Snape, on the eastern approach to Wensleydale.
On arrival, crews found the baling machinery engulfed in flames, with fire threatening to spread into surrounding dry stubble. Firefighters deployed hose reel jets and specialist thermal imaging equipment to extinguish the blaze and cool the machine's mechanical components.
Fire officers commended the farm team for quickly isolating the machinery, preventing the fire from sweeping across adjacent standing crops.
