Infrastructure directors at North Yorkshire Council have confirmed that complex engineering teams have moved onto the final road-tying and structural surfacing phases on the A59 Kex Gill realignment scheme. The enormous construction project is bypassing a notorious landslip-prone section of the vital trans-Pennine corridor connecting Skipton and Harrogate, which has suffered fifteen major structural collapses since 2000. While an exceptionally wet winter adjusted the initial spring completion goals due to unforeseen poor ground conditions, teams are currently completing drystone walling linings, structural waterproofing at Blubberhouses Bridge, and hydroseeding embankments with native wildflowers to blend the new 2.5-mile road layout into the landscape ahead of its newly targeted launch windows.
