Critical High-Altitude Mountain Rescue Mission Executed on Ingleborough

Critical High-Altitude Mountain Rescue Mission Executed on Ingleborough

02 June 2026

Fellside rescuers have carried out a high-stakes emergency evacuation on Ingleborough this morning after a walker suffered a suspected fracture near the summit

Volunteer crews from the Clapham-based Cave Rescue Organisation were scrambled early today following reports of an injured walker on the high trails. The individual sustained a severe, debilitating leg injury while navigating the technical terrain near the top of the peak. Rescuers scaled the mountain using off-road vehicles, stabilised the casualty, and executed a complex stretcher evacuation down the steep slope through heavy morning mist to an awaiting land ambulance.
