North Yorkshire Council's Executive Member for Open to Business, Councillor Mark Crane, has officially announced the successful completion of a major commercial leasing deal this morning, Monday, June 15. The strategic local government agreement will see the massive Summit Indoor Adventure Centre completely reopened to the public this summer after sitting vacant since the pandemic. The facility, which was inherited by the new unitary council following local government reorganisation, had previously been utilised as a high-capacity NHS vaccination hub before falling into disuse. Under the terms of the newly signed agreement, national operator Curly Pepper Trading Limited will take over the asset to construct a giant children's soft play arena, an indoor climbing wall zone, and ten-pin bowling lanes. Crucially for regional sports development, the deal also secures the installation of two premium indoor courts under the Vogue Padel banner, with a legal mandate to run subsidised sports coaching programs directly for local schools and community youth groups.
