Aysgarth Landscape Plans Face Planning Scrutiny

Aysgarth Landscape Plans Face Planning Scrutiny

12 April 2026

A domestic garden causes a planning headache at the Falls

A homeowner at Town Ends in Aysgarth is fighting to keep a newly built terrace. National Park officials say the "domestic suburban style" of the garden clashes with the rugged, commercial heritage of the nearby Aysgarth Falls. The applicant has offered to plant dozens of native Rowan and Hawthorn trees to hide the terrace, but some committee members still fear it sets a "dangerous precedent" for the village.
