The Hunton Steam Gathering is one of North Yorkshire's best-known annual steam and vintage rallies. It takes place near the village of Hunton, between Bedale and Leyburn, and attracts thousands of visitors along with hundreds of exhibitors each year. What began as a small traction engine gathering in 1985 has grown into a major heritage event.
Visitors can expect a wide range of attractions, including:
Working steam engines
Vintage and classic tractors
Classic cars, motorcycles, commercial and military vehicles
Stationary engines and agricultural machinery
Craft stalls and trade stands
Autojumble
Local food vendors and licensed bar
Live arena displays and family entertainment
A vintage ploughing match and local produce show on the Sunday.
The event is particularly popular with enthusiasts of Britain's engineering and farming heritage, but it's also designed as a family day out with activities and displays for all ages. In recent years, organizers have expected more than 900 vintage vehicle exhibits, making it one of the larger steam gatherings in the region.
