St Mary's Church are delighted to welcome back Eddie Gripper. Eddie performed last year as guest pianist with the Jack Pearce Quintet, if you were lucky enough to attend that concert, you’ll already appreciate what a virtuouso eddie is!
This June, Eddie joins them with his own jazz band. They are currently touring to support their new Album – Americana – the band will perform original material written after an eye-opening tour of the United States in 2022.
The album is, in fact, a personal account of Eddie’s six-week journey: living in motels, camping on roadsides, and catching lifts with people of every background imaginable. It’s a reflection on the American spirit – the warmth, optimism, and generosity of its people – but also a glimpse into a more fractured reality where drugs, homelessness, and poverty are ever-present. The pieces on this album capture snapshots of that experience: a broad yet honest reflection of Eddie’s time in America.
